Meet Your Quilting Instructor

Karen found quilting about 25 years ago and it became her passion.  She enjoys contemporary and art quilting and uses a variety of techniques to achieve the look she’s after, from dyeing her own fabrics to thread painting to using embellishments and beading on the quilt.

She particularly likes Round Robin quilts for the camaraderie they provide and for the creative challenges they present and has written articles about Round Robins for AQS where her quilt, Autumn Equinox, was featured on the cover.

Karen has been teaching and lecturing for the past 10 years and loves to help people find their creative muse.  She shows how changing backgrounds, using large scale prints and ethnic fabrics can get stunning results and really change up the look of your piece.  She began designing her own patterns and techniques. They look much more complex than they actually are and most of her wall quilt patterns can be nearly finished in a day-long class.

She lives in Punta Gorda, FL with her husband and 2 dogs and loves traveling (where she finds interesting fabrics for new quilts) and cooking.
